Scott sells longer tax ‘holiday’

Port Charlotte resident Jamie Grant believes Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s proposed extension of the tax-free holiday would help families stretch their money right when it is needed most.

Scott has written a 10-day sales tax holiday into his budget proposal. If approved, it would expand the three-day holiday, which was held last year from Aug. 2-4, right around the back-to-school shopping rush.
