Fighting ‘Big Ag’ in North Port

Residents turned out in Venice last May to protest Monsanto, a company that makes herbicides and genetically modified crops. The annual "March Against Monsanto" protest, part of an international movement, will take place in North Port's Cocoplum shopping center this year on May 24.

NORTH PORT — Cheri Lee is organizing protesters to picket what she sees as a hidden danger to the food supply — genetically modified crops.

“The overall message that we’re getting across to people is we want GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in our foods labeled,” she said.
