The good news is, the 1.8 million Floridians who are expected to hit the road this holiday weekend will be part of the largest migration of motorists on Independence Day since 2007 nationwide, perhaps signaling a renewed confidence in the economy. The bad news is, they will encounter the highest July Fourth gas prices since 2008.
“Consumer confidence and the employment outlook both show improvement, which are encouraging people to take a road trip,” said Kendall Clotfelter, field manager for AAA — The Auto Club Group in Port Charlotte.
