A house fire sparked during a Fourth of July cookout in Port Charlotte might have been fatal, had it not been for some quick thinking from a father and son who lived nearby. That’s why the Charlotte County’s fire chief praised the pair of rescuers on Monday.
Ralph Marok, 50, and Gregory Marok, 29, were recognized Monday during a special ceremony at the Charlotte County Public Safety Building in Punta Gorda. Fire Chief Marianne Taylor presented the men with certificates of appreciation — the first the chief has issued to citizens since taking her post in April.
