SARASOTA COUNTY — The city of North Port will get another vote on the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization board, tasked with planning regional transportation infrastructure.
The extra vote is “very significant,” said City Commissioner Rhonda DiFranco, who’s poised to become the board’s second voting member from the city. “It just gives us better representation on that board. And when there’s money allocated, having two people fighting to bring some of the money home to our own city, it helps.”
