Cancer survivors and caregivers pause for a photo after completing the opening laps -- the Survivor Lap and the Caregiver Lap -- of North Port Relay for Life, held at North Port High School Saturday and Sunday. Last year, North Port raised $62,200 for the ACS, surpassing a $60,000 goal. Just after kickoff time at 4 p.m. Saturday, 27 teams raised $40,605 for the American Cancer Society, more than 50 percent of this year's goal. Money will continue to be counted toward this year's Relay until August, when fundraising ends.
