Fresh paint for art center

David Gibbs, of Precise Painting, put finishing touches around the sign on the Pottery Studio building next to the Gallery & Classes building on Sunday. Children can attend free art classes most Saturdays throughout the year, at the North Port Art Center. It is located at 5950 Sam Shapos Way. For more information, call 941-423-6460.

Volunteer painter David Gibbs removed downspouts temporarily Sunday to paint behind them to finish the North Port Art Center Gallery & Class building. Sherry Willette-Grondin, North Port Neighborhood Development Services/Planning Division, approved the NPAC Board selection of the two Florida colors used on the fronts of the two buildings.

Tricia Gibbs and David Gibbs of Precise Painting donated their time to paint the fronts of two buildings for the North Port Art Center. Standing with them are the art center's Vice President Kathy Garrity, Kathy Schatz and Carol Dawkins who thank them. Sherwin-Williams store manager Richard Charette donated 19 gallons of paint to the NPAC for the project.

Volunteer painted the fronts of the North Port Art Center during the weekend. The facility hosts classes in acrylics, watercolor, pastels, oil painting, 3-D art, pen and ink, drawing, graphite, colored pencil, scratchboard and evening paint-along workshops along with kid's after-school classes.

NORTH PORT — The North Port Art Center received a little bit of extra art to its exterior recently.

The facility, which hosts a variety of classes for children and adults, had two Florida colors on the fronts of its two buildings at 5950 Sam Shapos Way in North Port.
