NORTH PORT — Commercial construction in North Port is still strong, with building permits up this year over last, according to numbers released this week by the city’s Building Department.

In 2012, there were two commercial building permits, and this year there were six valued at $3.4 million, including a new full-service groomer, Atomic Dog Pet Salon at 1093 N. Toledo Blade Blvd., in the plaza with Kyle Kurtis Salon and Cluck-U on the eastern end of town.
