NORTH PORT — Join the Knight Owls Kiwanis Club on the second floor of North Port City Hall at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 for the inside lighting of the Tree of Lights.

To honor a loved one, you can purchase a light on the tree for $5 per light. Red lights honor a living loved one; white pays tribute to a loved one who has passed. Those being honored will be compiled in a memorial book, along with the name of the donor, in calligraphy to be seen by all. All proceeds will support needy children in North Port. The evening will include Christmas carols provided by the Lemon Bay Barbershop Chorus, cookies and hot chocolate, and Santa on hand for pictures with children. Donations for the honoring of loved ones can also be paid for at Panera Bread in North Port from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Those who make donations at Panera will also receive a large cookie courtesy of Gary Burgess, Panera general manager. For more information, call Sam George with the Knight Owls Kiwanis Club at 941-429-5882.
