NORTH PORT — Businesses that give back to the community were honored Thursday at the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards luncheon.

Fred Tower III and North Port Mayor Jim Blucher presented the awards. Tower said 29 North Port area businesses applied for Business of the Year status.
