NORTH PORT — Now that the short-term bid packets are on the street soliciting for a management company to operate the Warm Mineral Springs Day Spa for a few months, North Port city commissioners will tackle possibly one of the most challenging duties of their political careers.
City commissioners recently agreed to a Sept. 1 deadline to have a signed contract in place for the long-term operation of the Springs, which the city jointly owns with Sarasota County. That means commissioners have fewer than 136 business days to meet and hash out language for either a request for bid, an invitation to negotiate, or some other method of soliciting proposals.
