New Imagine gym to see play Friday

NORTH PORT — On Friday, Imagine high school students will celebrate the first games played in the charter school’s new gym, a building that was originally scheduled to be completed before the school year started back in August 2013.

“It’s been a long haul since I walked in the door,” said Steve Black, principal at Imagine School at North Port’s upper campus, adding he received the certificate of occupancy from the city — the piece of paper saying the building can be used — last Friday. But “it’s a sense of identity,” having the gym finished.
