New parks plan possible

NORTH PORT — City commissioners could decide to spend as much as $150,000 on another Parks and Recreation master plan this year, but they first want to see what North Port’s role will be in a larger parks master plan to be conducted by Sarasota County, following a Friday morning workshop.

They already have the funds budgeted should they decide to contract an outside vendor to craft the new plan, City Manager Jonathan Lewis said — money that also could be available to update a 2006 plan for which previous commissioners paid $131,369.
