Supplying local schools with donated plants

SARASOTA COUNTY— Did you know that Sarasota County is home to more than 40 school gardens?

School gardens throughout the county — like the one at North Port High School — provide hands-on learning opportunities, connecting students to science, nutrition and a variety of other subjects, said Stacy Spriggs, Community and School Gardens coordinator with the county’s University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension.
