Sarasota educator named top Florida principal

A Sarasota educator was named the top principal in the state this week.

Dr. Barbara Shirley, principal of Alta Vista Elementary School in the Sarasota County School District, took home the 2013-2014 Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership Monday at a state summit meeting in Orlando at the Disney BoardWalk Inn. Jeannie Inagawa, assistant principal at Cracker Trail Elementary School in the Highlands School District, received the 2013-14 Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award.
