Warm Mineral Springs to finally reopen

While bathers immerse themselves in the 87-degree waters of Warm Mineral Springs, some of the 9 million gallons that flow daily leave the lake and enter the nearby creek.

NORTH PORT -- Warm Mineral Springs will reopen for swimming for at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 12.

The city of North Port and Sarasota County hired a management company, National and State Parks Concessions Inc., to operate the natural spring and its facilities for swimming and bathing while the two governing agencies continue to work on a long-term solution for the Springs’ continued operations. The Springs has been closed since June 2013. There is a fee to swim at Warm Mineral Springs, which will be open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entry pricing, including sales tax, shall be as follows: Day Pass for adults age 18 and above will pay $20 (residents pay $15); students age 6 through 17 will pay $15 (residents pay $11.25); and children age 5 and below will pay $10 (residents pay $7.50). Ten day passes will cost $170 for an adult (residents pay $112.50). Sarasota County residents shall qualify for the resident rate. No 10 day passes will be sold after Aug. 22, and no monthly passes will be sold after July 31. Tickets are not refundable. Same day re-entry shall be permitted. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs due to limited seating. Only swimming will take place at the Springs. There will not be any ancillary services, such as a restaurant, spa services, nail salon or gift shop.
