Air quality in the North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton metropolitan statistical area topped national rankings, according to the American Lung Association.
“I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising,” North Port Mayor Jim Blucher said Monday on hearing the good news, noting a lack of smokestacks and a clean Gulf breeze. “It’s wonderful for tourism and for the people who live here,” he said.
