City union raise flatly rejected

NORTH PORT — City commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to reject a wage increase requested by the city’s employee union.

The union, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which represents a bargaining unit of more than 100 city of North Port employees, came before the commission after an impasse hearing conducted by a special magistrate, in which they requested a 5 percent wage increase.
