In an exciting, drama-filled conclusion to a months-long process, Sarasota County-born singer Josh Kaufman won $100,000 and a recording contract as the winner of the competition Tuesday night on the hit NBC show “The Voice.”

Kaufman — whose father Mark and stepmother Doris live in North Port and own Mark Kaufman Roofing — was in the top three after last week’s voting and performed with the other finalists on Monday evening. For his first song, he sang a tune he had sung earlier in the season, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours,” by Stevie Wonder.
