SMH named top hospital

Share this story:

Sarasota Memorial Hospital has begun the process of getting state permission to build a 200-bed hospital in Venice. SARASOTA COUNTY — For the second year in a row, Sarasota Memorial Hospital has been named a top facility on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” list, according to rankings released Tuesday.

SMH also earned the fifth spot in the state for overall care — there are 256 hospitals in Florida — behind only Florida Hospital Orlando, Tampa General Hospital, Shands in Gainesville and Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.
