‘A brain erase’

Seniors at the Sterling House of Englewood create words from a big word posted on the screen. The word game helps seniors with memory and keeps the brain active. Researchers say puzzles and word games are helpful in fighting memory loss.

ENGLEWOOD — Brenda Peckman calls what her mother has a “brain erase.”

Like the movie “The Notebook,” in which the elderly woman Allie Hamilton sometimes doesn’t recognize her husband, Peckman accepts the fact that her mother doesn’t know who she is anymore.
