North Port dentist Dr. Kevin Schapley recently returned from a weeklong trip to Villa el Carmen in Nicaragua, where he and about 33 colleagues from all around the U.S. performed free dental and medical services to townspeople ranging in age from 6 to 96.

Schapley, 41, lives in South Venice and started up Kevin Schapley D.M.D. Cosmetic and General Dentistry at 14236 Tamiami Trail, Suite A in North Port nine years ago. He said the July 5-13 trip was arranged through the American Dental Association, which put him in touch with Global Health Outreach, a ministry of the Christian Medical and Dental Association.
