SARASOTA COUNTY — The Sarasota County School Board unanimously approved a $704 million tentative budget — a reduction of $69 million from last fiscal year — and a lower millage for advertising purposes during a 20-minute meeting with little discussion Tuesday afternoon.
The school district’s overall millage for fiscal year 2013-14 was 7.970. The proposed millage for FY 2014-15 is 7.777, a drop of .193. That decrease reflects a lowering of the required local effort from 4.722 mills to 4.529 mills, an amount which is state mandated and not under school district control.
