Robert “Bob” Robb, 83, of North Port, Fla., died peacefully at home Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, surrounded by his family.

He was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Peekskill, N.Y., to Marshall and Caroline Miller Robb.

Bob was a generous and kind man, and proudly served in the U.S. Marines in Korea, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW. Bob had a passion for sports, especially for the NY Yankees, family, friends and golf. In his 36 years with IBM, he coached and played on numerous baseball and softball teams, and made lifelong friends there. Bob also coached and shaped the lives of many boys, coaching Little and Big League teams throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife, Annette; son, Robert Jr; daughters, Sandra and April; granddaughters, Bailey and Aya; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father; and brothers, William and John.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte, Fla., Chapel. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port. Interment with military honors will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fishkill, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. Friends may visit at to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
