Herbert Arthur Anderson, 91, of North Port, Fla., passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.
He was born March 4, 1922, in Beloit, Wis., where he grew up.
Herbert joined the U.S. Marines to serve his country during World War II. After serving the military, he married Arlene Tuttle, the mother of his two sons. Herbert was employed by J.C. Penney, and relocated with his family to Sarasota, Fla., in 1962.
He married his second wife, Eileen Shoenberger, in 1970, and relocated to Sebring, Fla., and was employed as store manager for Beall’s Department store,and later served as a manager for the Sebring Shopping Guide. Herbert moved to North Port in 2011 to be near his family. He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards — especially poker, and traveling to the Bahamas; and was a loving family man.
Herbert is survived by his two sons, Stephen and Dennis; daughter-in-law, Joyce Anderson; stepdaughter, Linda (Rick) Iribarren; stepson, Del Shoenberger; step-grandson, Jason (Rachel) Means; granddaughter, Christine Anderson (Jacob) Fuhlman; and two great-grandsons, Terry and Jessie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene; and his second wife, Eileen.
A memorial service to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at McKee Funeral Home in North Port. Please make donations to Tidewell Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
