Dorothy “Dottie” Arft, 80, of North Port, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013.

She loved her life as a wife of a career U.S. Navy veteran, moving to many different states in the 27 years her husband served. Dottie was a W.A.V.E. in the U.S. Navy for four years and then spent 29 years in civil service. Bill and Dottie moved to North Port when she retired and loved their lives in Harbor Cove. She was the #1 Packer fan and loved watching the games at the VFW hall with all her Packer buddies! Dottie was a volunteer extraordinaire and gave her time to Meals on Wheels, the North Port Police Department, the Veterans Club of Harbor Cove, NARF and the Harbor Cove Library.

She was loving mother of Dawn and Jini; adored and proud grandma of Alison, Quinn and Samantha; and great-grandma of Jeremiah; sister of Woody (Marge) Crowell; and best friend of many. Dottie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, William; and her brother, Jim Crowell.

A celebration of Dottie’s life will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at the Harbor Cove Community Room, 499 Imperial Drive, North Port, FL 34287, all are welcome to share laughs and stories of Dottie.
