Anna K. “Nancy” Doran, 83, of North Port, Fla., a loving sister and aunt, passed away Wednesday, Dec.4, 2013, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Syracuse, N.Y., to William and Nellie Doran.
Nancy graduated from Solvay High School in Solvay, N.Y., and worked at the Solvay Process Company for 15 years. She studied religious education at Mount Alvernia College in Newton, Mass., and became a member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters. Nancy taught elementary school and religious education in Augusta, Ga., Syracuse, and Binghamton, N.Y. She also worked at the Onondaga County Central Library in Syracuse, from where she retired and moved to North Port in 2001.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Boyd of North Port; nephews, Patrick Doran of Phoenix, Ariz., Matthew Doran of Syracuse, and David Boyd of Tampa, Fla.; nieces, Kathleen Boyd of Boston, Mass., and Ellen (Jay) Corbett of New York, N.Y.
A funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Solvay, with burial immediately following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Skaneateles, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Cecilia’s Church, 1001 Woods Road, Solvay, NY 13209.
