Catherine A. Watral, 90, of North Port, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.

She was formerly from Edinboro, Pa., and had lived in the Florida area for the past 26 years.

Catherine will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Christine Welcheck, formerly of North Port, and Shirley Watral of Naples, Fla.; grandsons, Brian (Christina) Welcheck of North Port, and Scott (fiancée Connie Chen) Welcheck of Washington, D.C.; and great-grandson, Boston Welcheck of North Port. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Watral; and son, Thomas Watral.

A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, Fla., followed by a luncheon. Donations would be appreciated to Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs Inc., a nonprofit public charity that rescues, raises and trains service dogs that mitigate the challenges of a disability. It currently is training and pairing 230 service dogs for our veterans suffering from the challenges of post-traumatic stress disorder).
