Lubomyr J. Iwaskiw

Lubomyr J. Iwaskiw, 81, of Venice, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.

He was born June 12, 1932 in Denysiw, Ukraine.

Lubomyr moved to Venice 18 years ago from Huntsville, Ala., after he retired from Chrysler Corp., where he was an engineer. He was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port.

Lubomyr is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maria; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Petro and Tekla Iwaskiw; brother, Arkadij Iwaskiw; and two sisters, Izydora Dobransky and Myroslawa Bajrak.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Panachyda to immediately follow Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Farley Funeral Home in North Port. A Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
