Kevin Scanlan, 63, died Thursday, June 26, 2014.
He was born Feb. 18, 1951, in Rochester, N.Y.
As a youth, Kevin liked the soapbox derby, was a Boy Scout, played baseball, and liked to ride his bike around the neighborhood. He attended Greece Arcadia High School, and he belonged to a car club, liked fixing cars, and enjoyed camping. Kevin worked at Kodak as a wood fabricator for 27 years. He was also a carpenter/cabinetmaker and owned his own business, Scanlan Remodeling. He married Mary, and raised two children over their 42 years of marriage.
He enjoyed golf, and he was a member at Sabal Trace Golf & Country Club, and was on many leagues. Kevin loved to travel, to go to Amerks games, and to watch hockey and golf.
Kevin was someone who was always willing to help others, a great teacher, generous, dependable, a mentor, and someone who was well-loved. Kevin will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he has touched.
He is survived by spouse, Mary; children, Christine (Sean) and Brian (Julie); grandchildren, Spencer and Taylor; siblings, Timothy, Margaret, Elizabeth and Terrence; and many dear relatives, friends and business associates. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Patricia.
Services will be held in New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society’s Benjamin Mendick Hope Lodge, 12810 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
