Earl Price, 90, of North Port, Fla., died Thursday, July 17, 2014.
He was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Memphis, Tenn., to Earl R. and Clara John Price.
Earl graduated form Southside High School in Memphis, and attended the University of Tennessee. He worked for Illinois Central Railroad; Memphis Light, Gas and Water; Plough Inc.; and Lederly Laboratory.
Mr. Price served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and in the Navy Reserve for 10 years after his discharge.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Turner Wilbanks Price of North Port; stepson, Mitch (Christy) Wilbanks of Hernando, Miss.; grandchildren, Mallie, and Jax Wilbanks; adopted daughter, Marie (Jim) Smith of Southaven, Miss.; grandson, Wesley; nephews, Robert (Glenna) Hughes of Stillwater, Okla., and Richard (Sue) Hughes of Augusta, Ga.; and several other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews whom he loved. Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise (Squeeze) Gaskin.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at St. Nathaniel’s Episcopal Church in North Port. Burial will be at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
