Fred H. Jenkins, 50, of North Port, Fla., and formerly of Forked River, N.J., passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2014.
He was born July 7, 1964, in Bristol, Pa., to John and Madeline (nee Vannucci) Jenkins.
Fred loved family, fishing and his Cowboys. He served in the United States Army, and earned an honorable discharge. He was a plumber by trade, with his own plumbing company “Jenkins & Sons,” until he was diagnosed with ALS, aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease, in 2005.
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Dawn (nee Murante) Jenkins; children, Freddy Jr., Barry, Joseph and Christina; daughter-in-law, Amada (nee Vozeh) Jenkins; three grandchildren, Joseph, Jayla and Kyliegha; mother, Madeline; brother, Jack (Deb) Jenkins; mother-in-law, Grace Murante; in-laws, Barry (Vickie) Murante, June (Mike) LA Cava, Sal (Deb) Murante, Marie (John) Felton and Billy McGregor; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his father, John; sisters-in-law, Debbie and Joanne; and nephews, Doug Murante and Bobby Jenkins.
The viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at McKee Funeral Home, 14538 Tamiami Trail, North Port. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port. Burial with military honors will take place at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
