A 28-year-old woman was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries after driving off Interstate 75 and crashing into a tree Sunday.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported Danielle Batista, of Port Charlotte, was driving north in a black 2016 Honda CRV with a male infant passenger when she veered off the road onto the grass shoulder, striking a tree with the front of her vehicle. Batista was flown to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers with serious injuries. The infant was uninjured. Alcohol is not believed to be involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
