An Englewood man was arrested when he was found with a bag of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Wednesday. Wesley Council, 60, was stopped by a CCSO deputy for operating his motor vehicle with an expired tag. During the stop, it was determined that Council’s driver’s license was also not valid. According to the deputy, Council kept digging into a black bag on the passenger side seat of the vehicle and had to be asked to stop for safety reasons.

When a second deputy arrived, he observed a small bag containing crystal methamphetamine tucked into the outside wrapper of a cigarette pack, laying at the top of the bag in plain view. Council was charged with expiration of registration over six months, driving while license suspended 3rd or subsequent offense, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Charlotte County Jail with a $13,000 bond.
