ARCADIA — Lemon Bay High School clinched the No. 2 seed in District 5A-11 with a 66-49 win against DeSoto County on Friday night in a game that was close most of the way.
After Lemon Bay jumped to a 10-point halftime lead, the Bulldogs clawed back and tied it at 47 with less than six minutes to play. The game looked like it was headed for a similar finish to the team’s meeting in December, when DeSoto County’s potential game-winning possession stalled due to a three-second violation. But Lemon Bay finished Friday’s game on a 19-2 run, helped by the Bulldogs going 2 for 9 from the free-throw line in that stretch.
