Lauren Clark completes her 120-pound lift in the clean and jerk. Clark placed third in the 110-pound weight class and advanced to the state finals.

Charlotte senior Jenny D'Alessandro completes a clean and jerk lift at Wednesday's sub-sectional meet. D'Alessandro placed second in the 169-pound weight class and earned her second straight trip to the state finals.

Lemon Bay senior Anna Fetzer completes a clean and jerk lift during Wednesday's subsectional meet. Fetzer won the 119-pound weight class to advance to the state finals.

Port Charlotte senior Kristy Lowe celebrates her 200 pound bench press with coach Sonia Tirb. Lowe placed third in the unlimited weight class, earning her a spot in the state finals.

PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte County will be well-represented at the state girls weightlifting championships on Feb. 8.

Port Charlotte High School had 10 girls qualify by placing in the top three of their weight classes, and host Charlotte had nine at Wednesday’s qualifying meet. Lemon Bay seniors Anna Fetzer and Jessica Garza ­qualified by taking the top two places in the 119-pound weight class.
