One hundred tons of steel. More than 950 cubic yards of concrete and 28,000 masonry blocks. Hundreds of trades and professionals, dedicating thousands of hours of expertise and labor. And one incredible dream to provide patients and families in the Lakeland community a comfortable, serene setting for end-of-life care. The end result — the new state-of-the-art, 16-bed Good Shepherd Hospice House, located at 3450 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland.

The public is invited to celebrate with Good Shepherd Hospice at the Lakeland Hospice House grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. The event is free, and Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw will be the featured speaker. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests can take personal tours of the facility to see firsthand the benefits of care at a hospice house.
