For William “Bill” Slagle, Friday, Jan. 24, took on epic proportions. Seemingly out of the blue, he suffered a stroke.
Prior to that day, he was the picture of health for a 75-year-old. Fitness was a way of life for him. He’s a retired physical education and science teacher. In the summers he would life guard in Long Island, N.Y. As a ski instructor during the winter months, he was active. And throughout the school year he could be found coaching others how to succeed in lacrosse and swimming.
