Proposed homestead break could burden Arcadia

Some time after, while supervising a crew of prison workers on a city job, Underwood found a package hidden away in a beam. It contained three cartons of cigars, which prison officials estimated to be worth $1,200 if sold within the prison. Underwood was commended for noticing and reporting the contraband.

Cities like Arcadia could be in trouble if Florida voters approve an increase in the homestead exemption.

This year the Florida Legislature approved a measure that would let voters decide on a Constitutional amendment to increase the homestead exemption by another $25,000.
