Military mom surprises

daughters at Myakka Elementary

After spending a year deployed in Germany and Romania, U.S. Army specialist Kelly Pollock reunited with her two daughters at Myakka River Elementary School. Pollock's mother Debbie Moller cared for the girls while their mother was deployed.

Myakka River Elementary School fourth-grade teacher Tara Eiken and first- grade teacher Michelle Brady join 7-year-old Lokalia Waldt and 10-year-old Cheyenne Acuna-Navarro, who were reunited with their mother, U.S. Army specialist Kelly Pollock. The family will be heading to Alaska to reunite with Pollock's husband, Sam, who also serves in the Army.

ENGLEWOOD — “I can’t believe you’re here,” 10-year-old Cheyenne Acuna-Navarro said, hugging her mother as tightly as a child can hug a mother.

Cheyenne and her sister, 7-year-old Lokalia Waldt, sat among other Myakka River Elementary School students who were learning the “USA” chant and a ballpark wave Thursday in the auditorium.
