When loved ones with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or Down syndrome go missing, it can be terrifying for caregivers. If not found within 24 hours, up to half of all wandering individuals will suffer serious injury or death, according to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Two programs offered by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office aim to prevent that by ensuring wanderers are taken home.
