Restaurants weather storm of customers after Irma

The lobby in Perkins was filled with people looking for a hot meal after Hurricane Irma Tuesday morning. Few restaurants were open in North Port and those that were had long lines and wait times.

The North Port in McDonald's had a line that wrapped around the building and out the street Tuesday morning. Many restaurants in the city were closed and those open were filled with customers.

NORTH PORT — While restaurant owners weathered Hurricane Irma over the weekend, they again braced for impact: this time, from customers.

“People were waiting outside at 10:30 this morning for us to open our doors,” JT Adams, manager at Applebee’s, said. “I knew it would happen, I’ve been through Charley with Applebee’s.”
