Charlotte schools clean up after hurricane

Charlotte County Public Schools hope to reopen Monday, but the schools are dependent on power restoration from Florida Power & Light.

“If the power’s not on, we won’t have school,” said district spokesperson Mike Riley. “There’s no running water, no bathrooms, no fire alarm, nothing. We have to have power for it to be safe for the children to return to school.”
