PORT CHARLOTTE — A man from Naples was arrested Monday at Publix after allegedly stealing groceries, credit cards and a vehicle. Kevin Q. Wallace, 47, was also charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, which he said was given to him at a hurricane party.

According to CCSO reports: Wallace’s wife said they arrived in Port Charlotte on Thursday after she asked to stay with a friend during Hurricane Irma. On Sunday, she noticed a silver handgun sitting in a recliner at the house, and Wallace asked if she liked his new gun. He would not tell her where he got it. However, he told the friend he got it at a hurricane party. The friend put the gun in a lockbox. Later, Wallace and his wife got into an argument, and he asked Wallace to leave and take his vehicle. After Wallace left, he noticed the lockbox was pried open and the gun was gone.
