The Florida Department of Transportation held a public meeting in Arcadia last week to discuss plans for two pedestrian crosswalks on State Road 70. These modifications are part of a resurfacing project on State Road 70 that covers the area from Orange Ave. to Turner Ave.
FDOT conducted pedestrian counts in 2015 and determined that these crosswalk areas are needed for safety purposes. As part of the resurfacing, FDOT is designing mid-block pedestrian crossings between North 10th Avenue and just east of North 12th Avenue (near McDonald’s). These designs will provide designated areas in the median for pedestrians to cross more safely.
