ENGLEWOOD — Charles “Charlie” Diez Jr. practiced law in Englewood like the portrayal of Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mocking-bird.”

His daughter, Mary Ann Floyd — now a staff attorney for the 20th Circuit Court — recalled how her father took a commercial fisherman as a client who could only pay his attorney fees with stone crab claws.
