An Allegiant flight from Lexington, Kentucky, struck a flock of birds upon landing at the Punta Gorda Airport Monday morning at 10:46 a.m. However, the plane landed on time with no issues, according to an Allegiant spokesperson. Local maintenance crews were still evaluating the plane for any damage Monday afternoon.
A spare aircraft was brought in as a precaution for the next scheduled outgoing flight to Knoxville, Tennessee. The flight was delayed about two hours past its scheduled take-off time of 11:14 a.m. It left Punta Gorda at 1:16 p.m. and landed in Knoxville at 2:41 p.m.
