DeSoto welcomes Operation Outdoor Freedom

How fitting that a wild turkey gobbled in the distance.

Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam, a detachment of state forestry, wildlife and agriculture administrators and staff were in an isolated parcel of the Peace River State Forest Friday to kick off a program for disabled veterans. Operation Outdoor Freedom connects these men and women to outdoor adventures such as deep-sea fishing and weekend camping to help them heal or re-connect.
