A tentative date was set Tuesday for the first public hearing to rezone farmland in DeSoto County owned by Mosaic Fertilizer, the giant phosphate mining company.
The DeSoto Board of County Commissioners set April 23 for the hearing, specifying that it will be a quasi-judicial session, meaning that participants follow rules such as those in a courtroom — sworn witnesses and testimony, exhibits and conduct. Because it could get rambunctious, rowdy visitors would be warned or escorted out, for example.
