A memorial service Tuesday evening, hosted by the Fraternal Order of Police, honored law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. A Port Charlotte native, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Norman Lewis, was one of the officers honored.

Lewis was killed in a motorcycle crash last January while pursuing a man suspected in the shooting death of another officer. Guest speakers included Chief Assistant State Attorney Amira Fox, Punta Gorda Police Chief Pam Davis, Sheriff Bill Prummell, and Fraternal Order of Police President Keri L. DeHart.
